Japan, nature, Tokyo
I live in Inagi, a suburban city of Tokyo. The photos shown below are from one of my favourite walking courses here. Flowers of rape and peas are everywhere now.

I live in a quiet residential area of Tokyo "Tama" (東京 多摩) It is really nice to walk there while enjoying pretty flowers in every garden. I do not have any garden, though, except for my balcony. With its altitude of only 1,977 m, why does Mt.Tanigawa have to rank the worst among many other higher peaks in the world? The reason is simple. Mt.Tanigawa is located at the water shed which divides the Japanese archipelago into two entirely different...

Mt. Fuji (富士山) shown in this photo might look somewhat unusual to those who are used to the views from the Pacific or the Five Lakes' side. The large hollows on the southeastern slope are the vents formed by the last eruption in 1707. The Hoei eruption (宝永噴火) released some 800 million cubic metres of volcanic ash, which even covered Edo (present-day Tokyo), about 100 kilometres (60 mi) away.

If you are one of those people who have a stereotype perception of Japan as a country with hustle and bustle, you will be surprised to hear that nearly 70% of Japan's total land area is covered with mountains and that there are numerous lakes in the mountains.

Lake Mashu (摩周湖) in Akan National Park (阿寒国立公園) located in the eastern part of Hokkaido (北海道) is known as one of the world's clearest, most transparent lakes.
